Using Asana for Project Management

As a photography agency with a small remote team, this year we started a new organizational system. It was important that this system help our creative team map out business strategies, execute our client’s photography campaigns, enhance revenue, connect company goals, and more. With the help of Asana, a software that is designed for task management, organization, and tracking - our photography agency has met company goals in 2022 and is setting the tone for the new year!

A WORD FROM DREA FLOW’S PROJECT MANAGER, KARA VILLARREAL:

Throughout the duration of my role, I have been using the all inclusive work management software, Asana. When I first began working as the Project Management Intern for Drea Flow, I was a bit intimidated by the platform. Which is understandable, it’s something new that I would have to learn. However I can now say that this has been the most organized I have ever been with work management!

If there is one thing that I am grateful for is the way the platform is organized. Asana has been great especially for team collaboration. As a big planner person myself, the “my tasks” section tells me what I need to do in order of priority. The way Drea Flow utilizes Asana is for direct communication of the four subsections as a production agency we focus on, then individually focus on particular subtasks. Andrea, Founder of Drea Flow, coordinates tasks with a description of the project’s requirements and the deadline(s) I must meet.

Through Asana, my team is able to track the completed tasks to better discuss during our weekly business meetings. Each task is color coded and automatically gives us insight on the agency’s progress for internal & client work. As visual learners, the calendar and color coding is extremely helpful!

Once a task is completed, I check it off and mark as “complete” followed by Asana’s celebratory graphics that make project management even more satisfying. As a Project Manager, becoming in tune with my role and using Asana, it keeps me organized with time management and my goal-oriented abilities.

Share in the comments if you have ever used Asana and how it helps you stay on track!
